Float like a butterfly, sting like a combo-hit in Streetfigher 2. Gravity Rush is unlike anything else in the Playstation world.. with the exception of Gravity Daze in Japan, which is the same game but with a different name.

Anyway, join Ewan as he explores the world with Kat, a cat called Dusty, and the ability to bend gravity for good, and for evil.

It’s easy to complain about the developers choice of income stream, but have you actually sat down to see if it fits your playing style? If you haven’t given this game a try, here’s why you should reconsider.

When the PS Vita launched in the US, UK, and EU, Sony released all their games in one big burst of excitement. It’s taken till now for the second wave of titles to arrive. Was that the right strategy?

I sit down and think about the reasoning behind Sony’s choice to have everything at launch, and then a quiet few weeks before E3. Did it help the Vita become established? And what does it tell us about Sony’s plans for the rest of 2012?

A launch title in Japan, in the US, and in Europe, Everybody’s Golf (Hot Shots Golf World Invitational) promised a lot, which is half the battle of a launch title. There are great graphics, good use of the capabilities of the platform – including online tournaments, augmented reality viewing, and subtle use of the rear touch pad.

But what do I really think? Let’s tee up the next Vita Voices podcast.

Back after the adventures at South by Southwest, and it’s given me a chance to step back and look at everyone’s coverage of the PS Vita. Not just the main gaming sites, but the forums, message boards, comments, tweets, and Facebook updates.

And something rather worrying has popped up. While everyone is complaining about the price of the memory cards, has anyone stopped to think about why they are prced that high? It’s not just a case of Sony trying to make money, but to proect the investment everyone is making in the Vita.

One week later, and everyone has written up their thought on the PS Vita across the internet, in newspapers, and for in-flight magazines. Surely the majority of gamers have already decided if they want to purchase a Vita before now…. but if everyone is already decided if they will purchase a Vita, why are we bothering?

The one word answer will be revealed in this week’s Vita Voices Podcast.

It’s PS Vita launch day, so a new name for the show, and a new partner… welcome to everyone listening in from Video Game Writers. Today is the day though (bar those pesky first editions in America and everyone in Japan. Everyone will be doing the same thing. Opening the box.

But have you stopped to think about how important the unboxing actually is?

I blame Tetris.

Once upon a time, a handheld launched with a puzzle game. The handheld was the original Nintendo Gameboy, and the title was Tetris. It changed portable gaming forever, and it changed the mindset on launch titles for ever. Now we have to have a puzzle game at every launch. Is there any other reason why we need a third version of Lumines? I lay out the case in this week’s podcast.

With the PS Vita on the way, I'm going to miss a very old gaming friend who won't be able to make the digital jump to the new platform. Why am I sad at the loss of Densha De Go?

Long term listeners will know the quirky game that I love and have brought up here a few times, but for the new listener, this might be a bit of a surprise. With the PS Vita on the way, I’m going to miss a very old gaming friend who won’t be able to make the digital jump to the new platform.

I’m sad at the loss of Densha De Go. Bear with me though, because this is a real-world situation that fans of some of the early PSP games will come across as well.
